How consumers can save money on homeowner policies and auto insurance plans
Clipping coupons and postponing vacation are a few ways consumers are curbing their spending. But by making a phone call to an insurance agent they may find a couple more ways to save.
The Insurance Information Network of California is reminding consumers that before contemplating dropping insurance plans, they should look for ways to save on current coverage.
Security alarms and earthquake retrofitting may result in a cut to homeowners’ rates while teachers, engineers and good students – all considered to be lower risks for traffic accidents – may find ways to save on car insurance plans.
“There are many ways to save money on your insurance without skimping on coverage,” said Candysse Miller, executive director of the Insurance Information Network of California.
“During tough economic times you shouldn’t gamble with your financial future,” Miller added.
Experts urge consumers to shop around for the best quote for coverage needed. Online tools are helping facilitate these types of comparisons.
