An upcoming reality show is expected to highlight the drivers who in many cases can be an auto insurance company’s worst nightmare.
The Travel Channel is expected to broadcast “America’s Worst Driver” sometime in early 2010, and its website is currently seeking nominees, people who consider themselves to be bad drivers, to appear on the show.
Residents of cities like Boston, Los Angeles, New York and Miami are among those who will be featured, since they are what the cable network euphemistically refers to as “America’s most iconic driving cities.”
A recent report in the Miami Herald said that the show’s producers were already in that city, putting four drivers through various obstacles as an off-duty police officer looked on. The article notes that participants will have a chance to win free vacations, free gasoline, or potentially even see their car “blown to bits.”
Outside of the world of reality TV however, drivers with poor records are generally more likely to put themselves and others at risk for serious injury, while also potentially paying much higher auto insurance rates.
