In January 2005, MetLife Insurance expressed its interest in purchasing Citigroup’s Travelers Life & Annuity and thus practically, most of Citigroup’s international businesses at $11.5 billion. By the year 2010, MetLife Insurance wants to create a customer base of over a 100 million people to become the largest insurance company on the globe.
